1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information: name and email address (via Google sign-in or email/password registration)
• Career data: conversations with your AI coach, resume content and versions, career memory interviews, voice transcripts, career vision goals, LinkedIn post drafts, saved job postings, experience graph data, interview practice sessions and debriefs, AI feedback
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, session duration (via Firebase Analytics, only with your consent)
• Technical data: browser type, device type, IP address (for security and service operation)

2. How We Store Your Data

Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform (Firebase) with enterprise-grade security measures including encryption at rest and in transit (TLS 1.2+). Data is hosted in secure data centers managed by Google. We follow industry best practices for data security, including access controls, audit logging, and regular security reviews.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Provide and improve the AI career coaching service
• Generate personalized career advice, resume suggestions, and content
• Build your experience graph from career history for intelligent resume tailoring
• Process voice conversations for AI coaching (audio is processed in real-time and not permanently stored in raw audio form)
• Send service-related communications (e.g., account verification, security alerts, important updates)
• Send product news and tips if you have opted in — you can change this at any time in Settings
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the Service (only with your consent, no individual data is shared)

4. Data Sharing & Privacy

Your data is private by default. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data is processed by the following service providers:

• Google Cloud Platform (Firebase): infrastructure, data storage, and authentication — data may be processed in Google data centers globally
• Google Gemini AI: processes your conversations to generate coaching responses — data may be processed in Google's global processing pool (subject to Google's AI data usage policies)
• Cloudflare: CDN, DNS, and email routing — data may transit Cloudflare's global network
• Firebase Analytics: anonymous usage metrics, only when you have given consent

Your data may be processed in data centers outside Canada. We rely on these providers' standard contractual clauses and data processing agreements to protect your information. We will never share your career data, resume content, or personal information with employers, recruiters, or any third party without your explicit, informed consent.

5. Candidate Matching (Opt-In Only)

My Job Odyssey may in the future offer a job matching feature that connects qualified candidates with relevant opportunities from verified employers and recruiters. This feature is entirely opt-in and works as follows:

• By default, your profile is completely private and invisible to employers or recruiters
• You may choose to enable "Appear in candidate search" in your Settings at any time
• When enabled, only an anonymized career profile summary is visible — no personal contact details, full name, or identifying information is shared
• If a potential match is identified, you will be notified and must explicitly approve before any detailed profile information is shared with the employer or recruiter
• You can disable candidate visibility at any time from Settings, and your profile will be immediately removed from search results
• We do not sell your data in bulk — matching is done on a per-opportunity, per-candidate basis with your approval

6. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (via Settings > Delete Account), all your personal data is purged from our systems within 30 days using our automated inventory-driven deletion process. This covers all user-owned data across every collection. Some anonymous, aggregated analytics data may be retained. Backup copies managed by Google Cloud may take up to 90 days to be fully purged.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a summary of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings
• Export: Request a copy of your data by contacting us (we aim to fulfill requests within 30 days)
• Withdraw consent: Change your analytics cookie preferences or email communication preferences at any time via Settings, or opt out of optional features like candidate matching

8. Cookies & Tracking

On your first visit, you can choose whether to allow analytics cookies via our cookie preferences banner. You can change this choice at any time in Settings > Cookie Preferences. Essential cookies required for authentication (Firebase Auth session) cannot be disabled. We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or cross-site tracking.

9. Children's Privacy

My Job Odyssey is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we discover that a child under 16 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
